Worship with Us

 Every Sunday at 10 a.m.

162 Monument Street ~ Groton, CT

We are an Open and Affirming church, and a Level Two Green Church.  If you are local, we sincerely hope to welcome you to our physical church.  If you are far away, we hope you find our stories of faith comforting and inspiring.  Either way, we wish all of God’s abundant blessings for you and your loved ones.  “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”  (Numbers 6:24-26)

October 25, 2020 Worship Service

“The Greatest Commandment” The Rev. Lee Ireland

Worship services, meetings, and outside activities at Groton Congregational Church have been suspended until further notice.  Our church leaders are continually evaluating the situation and will make a determination as to when we can safely reopen our building for worship.  In the mean time, we are offering Sunday worship services via YouTube, and weekly prayers meetings and coffee hour to you via Zoom.  Continue to check our website and social media for updates and links.   If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the church office at 860-445-7409 and someone will return your call.

As you know by now, by order of the Governor we have locked down the church indefinitely, not only suspending all in-person worship and activities, but no one is to enter the building at this time, except the few who are checking in on things. We will keep you up to date as things begin to change.

We are providing worship services and meetings through YouTube and Zoom.  The links to our Sunday worship service can be found here, on our home page, on our sermons page,  as well as on our Facebook page.

Please keep in touch through email or calls and let us know if you need anything. Please let us know if you or a loved one is ill and/or in the hospital. Connie Stoddard, our Parish Visitor and I will be checking in with our shut-ins and those in need of pastoral care.
And continue to pray for one another. We will get through this.
Peace be with you, until we can be together again.

Merciful and loving God,

On this evening where we have learned that President Trump is now at Walter Reed Hospital to be treated for symptoms of Covid-19, we pray that you will surround him and his wife, Melania, as they receive care and hopefully can recover fairly easily from this very infectious virus.  Guide the doctors and nurses as they care for him and offer that which they’ve learned from so many other patients who have helped them find ways to overcome the symptoms.  We also offer prayers for VP Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as they must be talking to consider how to stay on top of our nation’s needs for governing and  listening for updates on his condition, as well as deciding what they can share to help the rest of us be informed.  I pray for our leaders at all levels of our government as we live into this new reality and continue to discern how to provide the best means of care for all.    May we find this as a time of collective listening and care which will lead us into a greater sense of unity.   May foreign leaders respect his medical condition and offer prayers as well.
We place our trust in you this night as we continue to walk together as disciples of Christ here at the Groton Congregational Church.  We pray for our members and their families and friends who may also be dealing with this virus.
Rev. Lee A. Ireland
