Groton Congregational Church …

“No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are invited and welcome here.”

These words begin every service of worship at Groton Congregational Church and we mean them.  We believe our most important mission is to help people find a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.  And then, of equal importance is helping those same people find a satisfying relationship with the church.  We consider those two objectives to be primary in our church’s life.

We hear the words of Jesus saying to us, “…love your neighbor as yourself.”  And so, we believe that Christ’s love begins with inclusion, making people feel at home and giving them the opportunity to share their gifts within the community of the church, and elsewhere.  Loving your neighbor is an expression of the hospitality of the heart.

We hear the words of Jesus saying to us, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…”.  And so, we believe that it is our calling to follow Him, to serve Him and to rest in Him so that His transforming powers can be at work within us to make us more and more like Him.  And His life in us must be shared by word and by action.

We hear the words of Jesus saying to us, “…whatever you ask in my name, I will do.”  And so, we believe that prayer is of paramount importance in the lives of all people of faith.  We encourage everyone to strive to grow spiritually by committing to a regular prayer life, by regular emersion in the Word and by fostering an attitude of openness to the Holy Spirit.

Truly, we invite all people no matter where they are on life’s journey, to come and join with us.  Let us worship the Lord together.  And let us enjoy each other in the fellowship of the church.
